As part of our ongoing work with Perth Festival, the Flintriver team were invited to a night of comedy with Nina Conti at Perth Concert Hall on Thursday 26th May 2016.
Unsure of what to expect, we were blown away with how funny the show was. Moving away from the traditional ventriloquist and dummy act, Nina used half-face-masks to turn willing audience members into puppets. Emphasising each character’s mannerisms, we saw many improvised scenes such as a complicated dance routine and a shy retired lady who constantly threatened to bury her husband in the garden.
Taking the heat off of the audience, we were also treated to a foul mouthed, witty monkey called Monk and Nina’s telepathic Scottish granny. The finale even saw Nina turn herself into a puppet and attempt hilarious actions based on whatever the audience asked for.
It was a fantastic night and with the exception of one – we were happy to sit back and enjoy the show…not to be on stage!
