Graphic Design Trends 2012

Graphic design trends are dynamic and are constantly changing as a result of new technologies. To avoid being left behind designers need to keep up with these trends. Here is a list of what we think are the top graphic design trends of 2012:

Minimalist designs – graphic trends of the year show that although flashy and elaborate can work well the “less is more” look often works better. To get this look it takes confidence and skill, there is nothing to hide behind!

The hand drawn look – rather than polished, digital perfection the current trend is towards hand drawn illustrations and type. This makes a design look more unique, refreshing and personal.

Bold colours – bold colours are great for drawing the eye to and emphasising the main parts of a design. The colour used may be flat or incorporate shading and patterns.

Infographics – infographics are visual representations that give people instant data or knowledge through illustrations and statistics. They are the hot trend of 2012 and popping up everywhere!. Infographics are eye-catching and informative so they attract and retain the viewers attention.

Design for multiple devices – with the huge rise in number of tablets and smartphones graphic designers are obliged to design, create and optimise content which is usable on a variety of platforms to take advantage of a full set of new interactivity.
